Shake-At-Home Cocktails
Perfect Pours
If we’ve learnt anything during our years slinging drinks, it’s that for every perfect cocktail, there’s a perfect method to serve it.
See below for the recommended serving suggestions for our favourite classic and signature cocktails.
The Tequila Mockingbird
1. GLASSWARE
For optimum ice:liquid proportions we recommend a short tumbler or a large wine glass to serve your Tequila Mockingbird in.
2. GARNISH
Brush the rim of your glass with a lime or lemon wedge before rolling it in our signature tajin-salt mix. Once garnished, fill your glass almost to the top with ice.
3. SHAKE & POUR
Give your cocktail a good shake in the bottle and pour into your perfectly garnished glass for a restaurant quality cocktail at home.
Negroni // Old Fashioned
1. GLASSWARE
These two classic cocktails are best enjoyed from a short tumbler. Alternatively, a stemless wineglass will have the same effect.
2. GARNISH
For peak restaurant-at-home experience, an ice rock (large ice cube) or sphere is our go-to, but regular old ice cubes will get the job done just as well. If using ice-cubes, fill your glass over half way with ice. If you’re feeling extra fancy, add a small strip of orange peel for a subtle citrus fragrance.
3. STIR
Pour into your chosen glassware and stir with ice.
Classic Margarita
1. GLASSWARE
If you don’t have a Margarita glass handy, a champagne coupette or a small wine glass will do the trick.
2. GARNISH
Brush the rim of your glass with a lime or lemon wedge before rolling it in salt, we recommend a high quality kosher salt (leave that iodised stuff at the table). Once garnished, fill your glass almost to the top with ice to chill, or place in the freezer while you prep your marg.
3. SHAKE & POUR
Give your cocktail a vigorous shake in the bottle and pour into your perfectly garnished glass.
Espresso Martini
1. GLASSWARE
We know not everyone’s kitchen cupboards are stocked with Martini glasses, a wine glass will work just as well to house the espresso goodness.
2. GARNISH
Fill your glass almost to the top with ice to chill, or place in the freezer while you prep your Martini.
3. SHAKE & POUR
Shake it ‘til your arms ache! Once well mixed, pour into your perfectly garnished glass.
Coconut & Passionfruit Margarita
1. GLASSWARE
If you don’t have a Margarita glass handy, a champagne coupette or a small wine glass will do the trick.
2. GARNISH
Fill your glass almost to the top with ice to chill, or place in the freezer while you prep your marg.
3. SHAKE & POUR
Shake it up & pour into your perfectly chilled glass.
CAIPRIOSKA
1. GLASSWARE
A short tumbler with a sturdy base works best.
2. GARNISH
Into your empty glass drop a couple of lime wedges (half a limes worth) and a generous pinch of sugar (optional). Give the lime and sugar a good ‘smoosh’ with a muddler (a wooden spoon, stone pestle, coffee tamper or french rolling pin will also work as great smooshing instruments).
Heap your glass with crushed ice or regular ice cubes
3. STIR
Pour your cocktail mix into your garnished glass and gently stir with ice.
Tequila Patrón Margarita Kits
Directions
1. Pour your salt (spicy or regular) onto a flat plate
2. Cut your lime into wedges and squeeze over the rim of your glass
3. Roll the lip of your glass over the salt
4. Grab your Toby tin (smaller shaking tin) and add all ingredients for desired cocktail, followed by 5 or so cubes of ice
5. Place your Boston tin (larger tin) over your Toby tin and give the top a firm whack to ensure a tight seal
6. Shake as hard as you can for 5-10 seconds. Try to hold both tins so they do not come apart mid shake
7. Once again give your shaker a firm whack, this time around where the two tins connect to separate them. Leave contents in Boston tin
8. Place your hawthorn strainer on top of your Boston tin and pour into your cocktail glass
